A Final Event For a Final Goodbye

Image
Being a Communications major with a minor in Marketing, trying to get experience out in the field is essential for a future of success. Having worked as a marketing promotions/tech intern last summer at NJTV in Newark New Jersey, this summer I wanted to widen my horizons on such fields. The internship/summer job that I did this summer was at iPlay America as part of their marketing associates promotions team. Thanks to iPlay America, I was taught skills that will never be forgotten and will help me in my future endeavors. https://www.iplayamerica.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw-vjqBRA6EiwAe8TCkx1r73qVsHbb_FDcTWhOVRhWk72XoaPf96mj-TJu6HjqVCWP0Ltt_xoCGzYQAvD_BwE The last event to work for the summer was an autograph and photo signing with the famous New York Yankees player Lou Piniella. Although the promotions team was not allowed to meet Lou Piniella, it was our job to assign customers the right tickets that suited their needs and make sure that got what they were promised. Some similar events...

Not Just Another Trattoria in Freehold

Image
Being regulars at restaurants proves the quality and integrity of such place. For my family, the comfort of knowing there are specific restaurants that suite our every need is an experience we and everyone strives for. As for Freehold, that mantle would have to go to the restaurant Solo Trattoria and Pizzeria. https://www.solotrattoria.com/ Solo Trattoria and Pizzeria is an Italian restaurant located on 7 South Street in Freehold New Jersey. Reviewed quite highly, Solo Trattoria serves old-world Italian cooking in a relaxing dining room setting. The dishes they serve are all "home style" and are healthy options containing fresh ingredients received by shipments daily. Although appearing small on the outside, the experience inside would be considered out of this world. Appearing on the inside, news articles and accomplishments plaster the walls. Being Zagat rated and being shown as one of Freeholds finest restaurants, the confidence that this restaurant holds exudes...

Old Nostalgia at the County Fair

Image
As if visiting home was not enough, being home insists on family outings to relive the memories of the past before I began college. Although sounding negative, it honestly is a feeling of joy to attempt things that may not have been as good as you can remember. For every August in my hometown, the perfect example of this would have to be the County Fair. http://middlesexcountyfair.com/ At the beginning of every August, my hometown of East Brunswick hosts the Middlesex County Fair located on 655 Cranbury Road. As a child, me and my friends would attend this fair annually but as our lives became more involved, times to do this became harder and harder to do. For 80 long years, it has been a tradition to bring families and thousands of residents together for the fair and it promises to bring a final week of "summer fun" to the community. This is inherently true, for the most part, and to see this fair again with my family was a treat to behold once again. Swarms of pe...

A Legacy of Good Food in Downtown New Brunswick

Image
In my fathers line of work of real estate, meeting new and different kinds of people has always been the norm. Whether they be his fellow co-workers in Newark New Jersey or football players trying to make it in the industry, each person has their own story to tell. This is best known in my father knowing the managers of the fine dining Italian restaurant Catherine Lombardi which nightly offers an exquisite dinner experience for a perfect family night out. https://www.catherinelombardi.com/ Catherine Lombardi is located on 3 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick New Jersey and is right next to Stage Left Steakhouse. The story of how the restaurant Catherine Lombardi was formed heavily involves the passion that the owners, Mark Pascal and Francis Schott, had for Mark's late grandmother and the love for the emerging city of New Brunswick. Catherine Lombardi's family had initially arrived to Brooklyn from Naples and cooking was heavily engrossed into their lives. The traditions ...

An Authentic Pavilion in Manalapan

Image
Deciding the best restaurant to eat at can be a daunting task when it comes to authenticity. Whether it be Italian food or Mexican food, the decision always comes down to what restaurant in the area does this the best. As for Chinese food, that answer has most certainly been answered by the Chinese contemporary restaurant the Peking Pavilion. http://www.pekingpavilion.com/ The Peking Pavilion is located in the Manalapan Township of New Jersey and includes upscale Chinese food such as Peking duck and fish dishes. They are also known for their cocktails and full length bar. Although the original Peking Pavilion Chinese restaurant was established in 1975 in Richmond Virginia, the popularity of the Manalapan location has steadily grown in popularity over the past couple of years. The Peking Pavilion has also been known to keep its authenticity in its food and traditions. Hearing the good news surrounding this restaurant it was evident that I had to try this place myself. U...

Steaks and Horrors in Lawrence Township

Image
Going to the movies for the summer would definitely be the norm when asking what to do for the day. As for my family, going to the movies is a way to get out of the house at the end of a hectic week and luckily for us New Jersey has prime locations for such occasions. Speaking of prime, as tradition we always have dinner before or after the movie we will be seeing so when my father said we would be eating at a restaurant before seeing the movie, I expected as much. http://www.kcprimerestaurant.com/nj_location/index.html The restaurant my family and I had eaten at was a restaurant steakhouse named KC Prime located in Lawrence Township New Jersey. KC Prime offers steaks and a variety of seafood and is reviewed quite highly as one of the best steakhouses. As someone who is a connoisseur of steakhouses, when my father asked if their was interest in going here, my mind instantly jumped at the chance. The ability to have a freshly cut prime rib before a movie seemed like a great opport...

Hopes Looking at a Future in Fordham

Image
Although New Jersey has a wide range of colleges to visit, sometimes it takes to go out of state to determine whether or not a school is right for you. As for my brother, when he's not busy studying for the SAT or ACT, visiting colleges outside New Jersey have been me and my families daily weekend trips for the summer. However, one college in particular has caught my brothers attention and that college is Fordham University in New York City. Fordham University is a private research university located in the Bronx section of New York City. Founded in 1841, Fordham University is a Jesuit University similarly to Loyola University and is the third-oldest university in New York State. While investigating Loyola University, when I was looking at colleges, Fordham University was one school I initially considered but passed on. Now it was my brothers turn to see if Fordham University was the right fit for him instead. https://fordhamsports.com/sports/2013/7/17/GEN_0717131810.aspx ...

Summer Job at Hall of Records

Image
Even though summer is meant to be a time for fun, it is also time to enhance your existing resume. Having completed the Consumer Behaviors in Marketing and Customer Experience Management: Disney Tour courses at Loyola University, I wanted to widen my knowledge on marketing in the field. So, for the summer, I have been interning at iPlay America, an indoor amusement style park, located in Freehold New Jersey. I am part of their Marketing Promotions Associates Team and as part of the internship, we are required to attend offsite events in New Jersey and hopefully increase attendance within the park. These offsite events range from small fairs to relays for cancer. As for this event, our job was to promote iPlay America at the Hall of Records in the Freehold Boro as part of their event to commemorate the police officers of the Freehold Township. https://downtownfreehold.com/ The Hall of Records in Freehold New Jersey has been used in recent years to host various events for the citiz...

College Visits End in a Barn

Image
Long are gone the days where me and my parents drove across country to find the perfect college where my talents could be expressed and grow. For my brother, however, his journey has just begun. With one more year left in high school, my brother and my parents are steadily looking at different colleges to suit his educational needs. This for me feels like deja vu the only difference in that my brother is interested in law where I was marketing. Upon visiting Vassar College in upstate New York and seeing a surprise concert in Woodstock, I though realized people make livings doing what they want no matter how complicated or trifle the job may seem. To start off, Vassar College is located in Poughkeepsie New York and is a private liberal arts college founded in 1861. One of it's biggest achievements is that it was the second degree granting institution of higher education for women in the United States just closely following Elmira College. Upon entering the campus, memories flood...

Say YES to Asbury Park

Image
Even after recently visiting Cape May, the allure to other beaches was too tempting for my family to resist. When me and my brother were younger it was hard for my parents to take us to places deeper into New Jersey. However, because I am now 21 and my brother is now 17, the ability to take us to different areas around New Jersey has become easier for my parents to do. One of said places we were finally able to visit was the famous Asbury Park in New Jersey and better yet witness a live performance of the iconic Jon Anderson from YES. Asbury Park, while known for its beachfront boardwalk lined with cafes, restaurants, and arcades, is also homed to extensive live venues. While arriving you can experience the Silverball Museum Arcade which houses machines from the 1930s to the present. Also, famous New Jerseyans have performed here like Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi making Asbury Park one of the most iconic places to visit for music. Upon arriving to Asbury Park, live performers wer...
