Summer Job at Hall of Records
Even though summer is meant to be a time for fun, it is also time to enhance your existing resume. Having completed the Consumer Behaviors in Marketing and Customer Experience Management: Disney Tour courses at Loyola University, I wanted to widen my knowledge on marketing in the field. So, for the summer, I have been interning at iPlay America, an indoor amusement style park, located in Freehold New Jersey. I am part of their Marketing Promotions Associates Team and as part of the internship, we are required to attend offsite events in New Jersey and hopefully increase attendance within the park. These offsite events range from small fairs to relays for cancer. As for this event, our job was to promote iPlay America at the Hall of Records in the Freehold Boro as part of their event to commemorate the police officers of the Freehold Township.

The Hall of Records in Freehold New Jersey has been used in recent years to host various events for the citizens of Freehold. Some of these events include movie screenings, holiday events, and senior appreciation events. iPlay America tries its best to attend these types of venues because families and friends can be seen running rampant, which is the target audience for iPlay's amusement style park.

Having set up our tent, with the help of the local law enforcers, me and my fellow co-worker were able to get started. The event would not start for another hour but that helped us get our barrings in the hot summer heat. On the table we had set up enter to wins for children to fill out and a prize wheel. Children are given the opportunity to spin the prize wheel to win sunglasses or tickets to use in the park. Recently iPlay America has opened the new Top Golf virtual golf attraction in the park and it was also our job to make sure people attending the Hall of Records event were aware of this.
As the event began, fair style blow ups were being set up for children to use. This was a very good sign as we were trying to promote iPlay to kids to begin with. Having our tent right in front of the blow up would visibly attract children to our tent making the day be a success.
Although we expected more people at this venue, me and my co-worker were still able to get rid of all of our promotional material. Local law enforcement ran a majority of the tents at the event and even offered us water throughout the day. As the sun started to set on the day, and we started packing up, I learned that we probably should have had a corn hole game set up so children would be even more inclined to stay by our tent. All and all the event was a success and I showed the importance of events like this in Townships like Freehold.
