Hopes Looking at a Future in Fordham
Although New Jersey has a wide range of colleges to visit, sometimes it takes to go out of state to determine whether or not a school is right for you. As for my brother, when he's not busy studying for the SAT or ACT, visiting colleges outside New Jersey have been me and my families daily weekend trips for the summer. However, one college in particular has caught my brothers attention and that college is Fordham University in New York City.
Fordham University is a private research university located in the Bronx section of New York City. Founded in 1841, Fordham University is a Jesuit University similarly to Loyola University and is the third-oldest university in New York State. While investigating Loyola University, when I was looking at colleges, Fordham University was one school I initially considered but passed on. Now it was my brothers turn to see if Fordham University was the right fit for him instead.

Entering Fordham University, we were greeted to the gates of Houlihan Park where the Fordham University football team had begun practicing for the next football season. Houlihan Park at Fordham University is their athletic field where not only the Fordham football team practices but their baseball team as well.
The mascot of Fordham University is the Fordham Ram, very different from the Loyola Greyhound that I am accustomed to. Just as Loyola University cares deeply for Iggy the Greyhound, Fordham University takes their mascot very seriously as statues of the ram were located in numerous areas around the University grounds.
As the official scheduled tour of Fordham University began, the Jesuit style architecture of Loyola University was very apparent. It felt as though it was a second Loyola, just one located in New York City. As my brother gazed in aw at the giant clock tower presented in front of us, thoughts of Fordham University be a candidate for myself for graduate school started to creep in. The big determining factor however would be if their marketing programs were up to standard.
Walking outside, one of the halls was named Loyola Hall which was quite appropriate due to Fordham University being a Jesuit institution.
Continuing our tour through Fordham University, we had past their school of business building, in dedication to the Gebelli Funds to according to them empower the next generation of leaders. Slides of stocks and students continual sly working showed the integrity this school had. Seeing this part of the tour embedded in my head the importance Fordham University has to business and marketing itself. My brother was also impressed with their business department and with that the tour had come to an end.
It is funny to think that even though this college visit was meant for my brother, I had gotten information for my own potential future. Just goes to show that being invested in your families time may benefit you too in the long run and for my brother, Fordham University is a big potential college in the horizon.
