An Authentic Pavilion in Manalapan

Deciding the best restaurant to eat at can be a daunting task when it comes to authenticity. Whether it be Italian food or Mexican food, the decision always comes down to what restaurant in the area does this the best. As for Chinese food, that answer has most certainly been answered by the Chinese contemporary restaurant the Peking Pavilion.


The Peking Pavilion is located in the Manalapan Township of New Jersey and includes upscale Chinese food such as Peking duck and fish dishes. They are also known for their cocktails and full length bar. Although the original Peking Pavilion Chinese restaurant was established in 1975 in Richmond Virginia, the popularity of the Manalapan location has steadily grown in popularity over the past couple of years. The Peking Pavilion has also been known to keep its authenticity in its food and traditions. Hearing the good news surrounding this restaurant it was evident that I had to try this place myself.


Upon entering the Peking Pavilion, customers were already lined up at the bar awaiting their drink orders. Although an older crowd, the bar was fully populated and it set the parameters of how the success of the night would go. After giving our orders to "Peak" service, the wait for the food had began. 


As we received our food, the craving smell of the food hit my face and motivated my stomach. According to the menu, the chicken and broccoli is critically acclaimed to be the best in New Jersey and with a taste of it that was no lie. The authenticity of the flavor of the chicken and sauce complimented the atmosphere around us with bamboo style architecture making us feel like we were in China. The breaking of immersion only came by the television in front of the bar elaborating on today's news stories. 


Leaving the Peking Pavilion with full and satisfied bellies, the immediate dinner rush would be seen entering as we left. The negatives of the Peking Pavilion could only be seen by the long wait for a table (being an hour long) but if you manage to wait it out the customer will truly know why waiting is an evident virtue. This truly was the "Peak" of what a Pavilion could truly be in Manalapan New Jersey.

Old Nostalgia at the County Fair

As if visiting home was not enough, being home insists on family outings to relive the memories of the past before I began college. Although sounding negative, it honestly is a feeling of joy to attempt things that may not have been as good as you can remember.
