A Legacy of Good Food in Downtown New Brunswick
In my fathers line of work of real estate, meeting new and different kinds of people has always been the norm. Whether they be his fellow co-workers in Newark New Jersey or football players trying to make it in the industry, each person has their own story to tell. This is best known in my father knowing the managers of the fine dining Italian restaurant Catherine Lombardi which nightly offers an exquisite dinner experience for a perfect family night out.

Catherine Lombardi is located on 3 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick New Jersey and is right next to Stage Left Steakhouse. The story of how the restaurant Catherine Lombardi was formed heavily involves the passion that the owners, Mark Pascal and Francis Schott, had for Mark's late grandmother and the love for the emerging city of New Brunswick. Catherine Lombardi's family had initially arrived to Brooklyn from Naples and cooking was heavily engrossed into their lives. The traditions of her Brooklyn-Italian style dishes were passed on to her grandson, Mark Pascal, and continuing that legacy he continues serving this authentic food to the proud citizens of New Brunswick and anyone visiting the area.
Upon entering the restaurant, news of Mark Pascal and Francis Schott's success can be seen on the wall. News papers and articles expressing their impression of a truly authentic Brooklyn-Italian style restaurant in the heart of New Brunswick. Catherine Lombardi is critically acclaimed with very high praise and is regarded as a very personable place with the service being in line with the owners vision.
Being also well known for their lively bar and spirits, the bar was gearing up for the night to come. Catherine Lombardi opens its doors at five o'clock primarily being exclusively a dinner restaurant. Opening the drink menu, images of the family legacy could be seen with late grandfathers of Mark Pascal emphasizing this restaurant was built on family respect. This also added to the intimacy that the reviews gave Catherine Lombardi adding to the immediate experience.
Sitting next to the window, the beautiful view of the Livingston Avenue Reformed Church could be seen as the wait for the food had begun.
As the food arrived, the Brooklyn-Italian style influence was evident through the gravy sauced lasagna and orecchiette pasta. The food was heavenly with the sauce almost being a meal in it of its self. According to Catherine Lombardi, it takes days to make gravy just right, and after eating the lasagna I believe it.
Leaving Catherine Lombardi, the importance of authenticity and family proved to be quite the rewarding factor. Because of the passion Mark Pascal and Francis Schott had for their late grandmother, a restaurant built on the morals of family and love for a city meld together to make an experience in New Brunswick one to truly visit again.
